CORVALLIS - A North Bend man has earned Oregon State University's Allworth Leadership Award.

Anthony Lee Ramos, who received his bachelor's of science in general science, magna cum laude, was honored for his campuswide leadership efforts. The award is named for Edward C. Allworth, OSU Memorial Union director from 1924-1963.

Ramos has served as president of OSU's Pre-Dental Club, Thanes Honorary Society and the Memorial Union Program Council. He also was instrumental in forming the OSU President's Club. The President's Club brings together student leaders to discuss campus issues.

He has also served as a member of the OSU Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration 2001 Planning Committee and has worked as director of the Memorial Union Program Council's Dad's Weekend Celebration and Holiday Events Program. As a member of OSU's chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, he coordinated the Inter-Fraternity Council's Non-Sexist Behavior Committee and founded the OSU Spirit Fountain. He has also served as a coach for the Corvallis Parks and Recreation Department's Youth Basketball Program.

Academically, his success has earned him the Kenneth Johnson Dental Scholarship and the OSU College of Science's Excellence in Science Scholarship; membership in Cardinal Honors and Mortar Board Senior Honors Society, as well as The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi's Junior Accolades recognition. Junior Accolades are awarded to juniors in the upper 10 percent of their class within their college.
