CORVALLIS - Oregon State University will hold a hearing on Tuesday, April 30, to receive public input on a proposed change to the administrative rules that would add e-mail addresses and enrollment status - either full-time or part-time - to the definition of directory information.

The hearing will begin at noon in Memorial Union Room 213.

If approved, the change would align OSU's definition of directory information with that of the federal Department of Education under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

Current directory information includes student's name, mailing address, telephone number, campus office address, class standing, month and day of birth, major field of study, status as a graduate teaching or research assistant, participation in officially recognized sports or activities, dates of attendance, degrees and awards received, and the educational institution previously attended.

Students will continue to have the option of restricting disclosure of their directory information.
