CORVALLIS - A "Take Back the Night" rally and march is set for Tuesday, April 16, beginning at 7 p.m. at Corvallis High School (N.W. 11th Street and Buchanan Avenue).

The event, which is free and open to the public, will include musical, dance and dramatic performances, as well as a reader's theater featuring Oregon State University students, information booths and exhibits. The event focuses on ways violence permeates the lives of women and families worldwide.

The highlight of the evening will be a candlelight march through the streets of Corvallis, which will start at 9 p.m. and end at the Benton County Courthouse, N.W. 4th Street and Monroe Avenue.

Keynote speaker for the event is GayLynn Pack, who has worked as a project manager for the Senior and Disabled Services Division in the Oregon Department of Human Resources. Pack is a former executive director of the Center Against Rape and Domestic Violence and has served as an officer of the Corvallis chapter of the National Organization for Women.

Sponsors of the event include Associated Students of OSU Saferide, AmeriCorps, Center Against Rape and Domestic Violence and the Benton County Sheriff's Department.
