CORVALLIS - The Oregon State University Choirs will sponsor a Valentine's Day Cabaret complete with dessert, candlelight, ballroom dancing, and live musical entertainment, on Thursday, Feb. 14. The program begins at 8 p.m. in the CH2M Hill Alumni Center Ballroom.

The OSU Black Tie Jazz Ensemble and soloists will perform vocal jazz, Broadway show tunes, and music by contemporary artists in an intimate candlelit setting. A jazz combo will perform jazz standards for dancing at intermission and at the end of the program. The audience will be served coffee and desserts from area restaurants.

The evening is organized and presented by students from the OSU music department.

"This is the perfect Valentine's Day event, whether you are just looking for a night of fun, or a serious evening of romance," said Jonathan Baltera, a junior music major at OSU and one of the performers and organizers. "Between the desserts donated by local restaurants and the music provided by student musicians, it's a night you will not forget."

Proceeds help fund music scholarships, choir tours and other special events.

Tickets are $25 for premiere reserved seating, $15 for general seating, and $10 for student general seating. Premiere seats are reserved and close to the stage. All tickets are available from Grassroots Book Store, Gracewinds Music, Sid Stevens Jewelers in Albany, and the OSU Department of Music. Valet parking will be available at the north entrance of the Alumni Center.
