CORVALLIS - Peggy McIntosh, a nationally recognized expert on race and gender relations, will be the keynote speaker for Oregon State University's Women's Leadership Conference on Saturday, Feb. 9.

The conference is free and open to the public. Registration will be available at the door starting at 8:30 a.m. in the OSU Memorial Union Lounge. Lunch is available for $8. McIntosh is the founder and co-director of the national Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity project. The S.E.E.D. project works to create curricula sensitive to gender and cultural issues. She is also the author of dozens of papers and articles and her work, "White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack," is used at OSU as a tool in diversity discussions.

McIntosh's 90-minute presentation starts at 9 a.m. and is followed by a daylong agenda of breakout sessions and panel discussions focusing on the conference theme, "Voices to Action."

The event wraps up with a final hour-long panel discussion at 3:30 p.m.
