CORVALLIS - An Oregon State University graduate from Molalla has earned recognition as the Outstanding Management Student 2002 from the university's College of Business.

Megan Smith, who received her bachelor's of science degree, magna cum laude, in business administration this month (June), was honored based on faculty recommendations that praised her academic skills as well as campus and community leadership activities.

During her time at OSU, Smith served as president of the student-run OSU Management Club, which is focused on preparing College of Business management students for the business world.

She also received the W.A. Woodard Family Scholarship from OSU's Austin Family Business Program. The scholarship is awarded annually to College of Business students with demonstrated interest in family business. The Woodard family of Cottage Grove, which founded the W.A. Woodard Lumber Co., established the award.

The management option in OSU's College of Business helps prepare students for careers as managers and supervisors in goods-producing and service enterprises. Studies focus on management systems, personnel and quality. Students completing the option often pursue careers in law, urban and regional planning, public services administration and health care administration.
