CORVALLIS - Oregon State University and USDA Agricultural Research Service scientists will present their findings on cereal grain and seed crop research at the annual Hyslop Farm field day on Wednesday, May 29. This event is open to the public and will run from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Hyslop Farm is located six miles northeast of Corvallis on Granger Road, just off of Highway 20 (There are signs pointing to Hyslop Farm). The morning tour begins at 8:30 a.m. with registration and refreshments. Field tours begin promptly at 9 a.m. and will include updates on cereal leaf beetle, breeding wheats with Asian product quality, new herbicides, Septoria management and herbicide resistant wheats.

The Oregon Seed Council and Valley chapters of the Oregon Wheat Grower League are sponsoring lunch. The OSU Crops Club will prepare lunch, served on-site at noon.

The afternoon program will begin at 1 p.m. and will feature information on several disease and insect pests menacing grass seed crops, plus a look at ways to control bentgrass in other grass seed crops. Other topics will include plant growth regulation and the effects on seed yield components, and possible benefits to weed control.
