CORVALLIS - The Oregon State University Department of Music will host a piano master class on Friday, Nov. 8, that will feature internationally renowned pianist Olga Kern. The class will begin at 1 p.m. in Benton Hall 303.

Several piano students will perform and receive individual coaching from Kern on their technique and interpretation. The public is invited to listen and observe, free of charge.

A native of Russia, Kern was awarded the gold medal at the 11th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2001. She won the first Rachmaninoff International Piano Competition at the age of 17, and has toured extensively through Russia and the United States, as well as in Japan, South Africa, and South Korea.

In addition to her technical prowess, Kern is known for her vivacity and passionate musicianship.
