CORVALLIS - The Corvallis Repertory Singers, a professional-level performance ensemble sponsored by Oregon State University, will hold auditions on Tuesday, Sept. 2, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Benton Hall Room 204 on campus. Auditions are open to the general public.

Singers interested in auditioning for the singers should prepare two songs in contrasting style to perform at the audition and be able to show evidence of sight-reading skill. The ensemble also requires a commitment from members to rehearse on their own.

"This ensemble prepares professional level performances in just a few rehearsals," said Steven Zielke, CRS director. "It is essential that these singers be capable of preparing their music independently and artistically outside of our rehearsal times."

Zielke, director of choral studies at OSU, founded the ensemble in the fall of 2000 to offer the community professional level performances of choral music. Last year the ensemble performed three concerts, including Vaughan Williams' "Dona Nobis Pacem" and Bach's "Magnificat," for large audiences in Corvallis.

This year the group will also perform three concerts, including Mozart's "Great Mass in C-Minor" on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Corvallis.

The ensemble will also perform such works as Durefle's "Requiem," Bach's cantata "Christ lag in todesbanden," Argento's "I Hate and I Love," and Lauridson's "Rose Cycle."
