CORVALLIS - An innovative "dual-enrollment program," in which students may enroll concurrently at Linn-Benton Community College and Oregon State University, has been honored as an exemplary program by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.

The group selected the program as a co-winner for the Region V Exemplary Program Award.

Students who participate in the program complete a single admission application and can take credits at either school. Those credits can be combined for financial aid eligibility.

"The strength of the program is its focus on expanding students' educational options," said Bob Bontrager, OSU's assistant provost for enrollment services. "This fall, we expect to enroll nearly 1,500 students in the program."

Bontrager praised his colleagues at Linn-Benton Community College, and cited Bruce Clemetsen, director of enrollment services at LBCC, for his coordination of the program on that campus.

OSU also has dual enrollment programs with Portland Community College, Columbia Gorge Community College, Tillamook Bay Community College, and Southwestern Oregon Community College. The university will sign an agreement with Chemeketa Community College in December.
