CORVALLIS - The Extension 4-H Youth Development Program at Oregon State University has awarded more than $6,000 in scholarships to nine Oregon 4-H members.

The Oregon 4-H scholarship program annually recognizes several members, said Mary Arnold, OSU Extension Service 4-H Youth specialist. Scholarship winners are selected based on their achievements in 4-H activities, contributions to the community and academic record.

The scholarships are given in recognition of accomplishments as a 4-H member and to provide incentive for further education, Arnold added. The donors who support this program see 4-H scholarships for higher education as an important investment in the future of our families and communities, she said.

"The state 4-H program is very grateful for these scholarships and for the individuals, businesses and organizations that give to the state scholarship program," Arnold said.
