CORVALLIS - Four Oregon State University women of color will discuss the intersections of race and gender in the world of academia on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the campus Women's Center.

The two-hour panel discussion, which is free and open to the public, starts at 5 p.m.

Featured speakers are Farah Ibrahim, Celeste Walls, Muneera Umedaly Spence and Janet Nishihara.

All panelists are OSU educators. Ibrahim is department chair of Teacher and Counselor Education and a professor of education; Walls is an assistant professor of speech communications; Spence is an assistant professor of art; and Nishihara is academic and counseling coordinator for the OSU Educational Opportunities Program, as well as interim director of the OSU College Assistance Migrant Program.

Each woman will share their thoughts about campus climate, recruitment and retention of minority students, and their own experiences and challenges as women of color in academia.
