CORVALLIS - Oregon State University's Indonesian Saturday Market cultural event this weekend will include a special appeal for funds to aid Southeast Asia earthquake and tsunami relief efforts.

The event, which is open to the public, starts at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, in the OSU Memorial Union Ballroom. Tickets are free but participants are asked to pick them up in advance at the International Students of OSU office in Snell Hall, Room 140, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Funds raised during the evening will go to Portland-based Mercy Corps, an international relief agency that is collecting donations for emergency aid to residents throughout the affected region.

The evening is intended to provide Oregon residents with a snapshot of Indonesian culture and will feature diverse entertainment, as well as a variety of booths showcasing aspects of Indonesian society.

The event is sponsored by OSU's Indonesian Student Association and is one of a dozen cultural nights scheduled on campus this spring.
