CORVALLIS - The co-founders of Sustainable Style Foundation and several representatives from successful private companies and agencies will speak at Oregon State University on Thursday, Feb. 3, at the CH2M-Hill Alumni Center.

Their appearance is part of a career day, "Career Compass," for the Department of Design and Human Environment that runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event is open to the public.

Rebecca Luke and Sean Schmidt are keynote speakers for the fair. They founded the Sustainable Style Foundation as a nonprofit organization designed to educate, support and recognize businesses that reduce industry's environmental impact and foster responsible labor practices.

Their talk, "Saving the World in Style," will begin at 9 a.m.

Luke also is president of les Egoistes, a marketing and fashion creative services company. She has worked with more than 50 clients locally and nationally in nonprofit, retail, clothing, manufacturing, TV and film, theater and the arts industries.

Schmidt has degrees in behavioral ecology and conservation biology, can communicate in five languages, has worked at Nordstrom, Inc., and is considered an expert on Russian venture capital funds.

Several companies and agencies will have representatives at the event, discussing trends in their fields. They include B2 & Co., CASA, the City of Corvallis, Columbia Sportswear, Gap Inc., G Wiz Creative Services, Legend Homes, Linn Benton Housing Authority, Macy's West, Mervyn's, Neil Kelly, NIKE, Nordstrom, SmithCFI and Target.
