CORVALLIS - The Oregon State University Gerontology Conference, the largest annual conference on aging in the Pacific Northwest, will be held Thursday and Friday, March 31 to April 1, at the CH2M-Hill Alumni Center on campus. This year's conference, the 29th annual, will focus on the theme, "New Horizons."

Aimed at health and human service professionals and open to the public, the OSU Gerontology Conference features more than 40 educational sessions and keynote presentations by speakers Eric Dishman of Intel Corp. and Anne Snowden Crosman, New York author and journalist.

The annual event is co-sponsored by the OSU Extension Service Family and Community Development Program, OSU College of Health and Human Sciences, Oregon Geriatric Education Center, Oregon Cascades West Council of Governments and Samaritan Health Services.

Educational sessions will cover a broad range of topics including caregiving, health promotion, pharmaceutical issues, mental health, risk management, spirituality and transitions in later life.

A new addition to this year's conference is a clinical track that will offer educational sessions designed for physicians, nurses, physician assistants and pharmacists.

Dishman, director of Intel Corporation's Proactive Health Strategic Research Project and national chair of the Center for Aging Service Technologies, will speak March 31 at noon on "Cognitive Assistance Technologies."

On April 1, beginning at noon, Snowden will deliver her presentation, "Stay Young at Heart and Age Gracefully - With Attitude," which is the subject of her recently released book.
