CORVALLIS, Ore. - Pam Houston, best-selling author and winner of the 1993 Western States Book Award for "Cowboys Are My Weakness," is coming to Oregon State University for a book reading and signing.

The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at OSU's LaSells Stewart Center, 26th Street and Western Boulevard.

Houston is director of the creative writing program at the University of California at Davis and has also penned "Waltzing the Cat," "A Little More About Me," and her 2005 novel, "Sight Hound."

Houston's stories have been selected for the "Best American Short Stories," the O. Henry Awards, the Pushcart Prize, and the "Best American Short Stories of the Century."

The reading is sponsored by the Craft of Writing Series, the OSU Student Foundation, the vice provost for Student Affairs, and the Center for Writing and Learning. Books will be available for sale after the reading.
