CORVALLIS, Ore. - The annual Oregon State University Marching Band/Northwest Marching Band Circuit Championships will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, in Reser Stadium on the OSU campus.
Preliminary competition will begin at 8:30 a.m., and finals competition will begin at 5:30 p.m. The OSU Marching Band will perform exhibitions at 3:30 and 9 p.m.
The competition, which is open to the public, will feature 27 high school bands from Oregon and Washington. Completely run by OSU students, the event is the season championship for the Northwest Marching Band Circuit, made up of high school bands that compete all fall term leading up to these finals.
A panel of nationally known adjudicators who specialize in music and marching band will judge groups on musical and marching performance. They are: Mike Rubino of Morgan Hill, Calif.; Gordon Hendseon of UCLA; Curtis Costanza of Vancouver, Wash.; Mike Stone of Los Angeles; Frank and Shirley Dorittie of Knightsen, Calif.; and Todd Fox of Carnegie, Pa.
Competitors will be marching bands from Beaverton High School, Centennial High School, Century High School, Eagle Point High School, Evergreen High School, Forest Grove High School, Glencoe High School, Grants Pass High School, Hillsboro High School, Hockinson High School, McKay High School, McNary High School, Mead High School, Mount Spokane High School, North Salem High School, Phoenix High School, Roseburg High School, Skyview High School, South Salem High School, Southridge High School, Sprague High School, St. Helens High School, Sunset High School, Thurston High School, Tigard High School, West Salem High School, and Westview High School.
Each band is permitted to perform for nine minutes. Trophies are awarded to the winning organizations. A complete schedule is available on the OSU Marching Band Web site: osumb.oregonstate.edu.
