CORVALLIS, Ore. - Ten Oregon State University undergraduates in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics have earned honors for their academic and community work.

The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees that prepare students for varied careers, including agribusiness, financial and insurance fields, and agricultural or resource management. The curriculum covers a number of areas, including marketing, business management, production and trade.

Students honored include:

  • BROOKS: Eric Henny, senior in agricultural business management, Agricultural Cooperative Council of Oregon Scholarship Award.
  • IONE: Cameron Krebs, junior in agricultural business management, Rachel and Harold Hollands Scholarship, established by Harold Hollands, an OSU professor of agricultural and resource economics, in memory of Rachel Hollands.
  • MOLALLA: Vicki Helmig, junior in agricultural business management, Oregon Chapter of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers Award.
  • MYRTLE POINT: Andrew Helms, senior in agricultural business management and animal science, Dustin Goedeck Memorial Scholarship in memory of Dustin Goedeck, a graduate of the OSU Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics.
  • PHILOMATH: Robyn Hauck, senior in agricultural and resource economics, and Ryan Siegel, junior in environmental economics, policy, and management and geographic information science, William P. "Chip" Harris Memorial Scholarships, established in 1988 in memory of William P. "Chip" Harris.
  • STAYTON: Peter Etzel, senior in agricultural business management, LeRoy Breithaupt Award, established in 1974 in memory of LeRoy Breithaupt who was an OSU professor in agricultural and resource economics and an extension director.
  • TUALATIN: Mary Sampson, junior in agricultural business management, Ermine L. and Norma Olson Potter Memorial Award, in memory of the Potters. Ermine Potter was the first chief of the university's agricultural economics division.
  • ARIZONA

  • TUCSON: Vanessa Prileson, senior in environmental economics, policy and management, Ermine L. and Norma Olson Potter Memorial Award, in memory of the Potters. Ermine Potter was the first chief of the university's agricultural economics division.
  • CALIFORNIA

  • COLUSA: Raquel Torres, junior in agricultural business management, Agricultural Cooperative Council of Oregon Scholarship Award.
