CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State University Alumni Association will host a special parade as part of the university's 2006 Homecoming, scheduled for the week of Oct. 30 through Nov. 5, and highlighted by a football game between the OSU Beavers and the Arizona State Sun Devils.
Kickoff time for that Nov. 4 game is set for 1:05 p.m., and the homecoming parade is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
A homecoming parade has been held periodically in the past, but not for several years, according to Julie Schwartz of the OSU Alumni Association. This year, the parade is set for Saturday, Nov. 4, and will begin in downtown Corvallis at Southwest 1st and Jefferson streets. It will proceed west on Jefferson all the way to 26th Street, then turn south and end a block later in front of Dixon Recreation Center on the OSU campus.
Grand marshals for the parade will be the OSU baseball team, which won the 2006 College World Series, and head coach Pat Casey.
Also scheduled for Homecoming 2006 are reunions for the OSU classes of 1966 and 1961. Several of the university's colleges and programs also have reunions or other special activities planned, including a 5-kilometer walk and run hosted by the College of Health and Human Sciences.
