CORVALLIS, Ore. - Twelve Oregon State University undergraduates in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics have earned honors for their academic and community work.

The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees that prepare students for varied careers, including agribusiness, financial and insurance fields, and agricultural or resource management. The curriculum covers such areas as marketing, business management, production and trade.

Students honored include:

COOS BAY: Russell Yeager, senior in agricultural business management and business administration, Dustin Goedeck Memorial Scholarship in memory of Dustin Goedeck, a graduate of the OSU Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics.

CORNELIUS: Janelle VanDyke, junior in agricultural business management, Ermine L. and Norma Olsen Potter Memorial Award in memory of the Potters. Ermine Potter was the first chief of the university's agricultural economics division.

FOREST GROVE: Tom Epler, sophomore in agricultural business management, Rachel and Harold Hollands Scholarship, established by Harold Hollands, an OSU professor of agricultural and resource economics, in memory of Rachel Hollands.

HOOD RIVER: Rocky Level, junior in agricultural business management, Rachel and Harold Hollands Scholarship, established by Harold Hollands, an OSU professor of agricultural and resource economics, in memory of Rachel Hollands.

JUNCTION CITY: Kelsey Allen, junior in agricultural business management, Ermine L. and Norma Olsen Potter Memorial Award in memory of the Potters. Ermine Potter was the first chief of the university's agricultural economics division.

LAKE OSWEGO: Nicole Powell, senior in environmental economics, policy, and management, Ermine L. and Norma Olsen Potter Memorial Award in memory of the Potters. Ermine Potter was the first chief of the university's agricultural economics division.

LAKEVIEW: Wade Foster, freshman in agricultural business management, D. Curtis Mumford Award in memory of Mumford, a longtime agricultural professor at OSU.

MONROE: Shiann Ashenbrenner, freshman in agricultural business management, William P. "Chip" Harris Memorial Scholarships, established in 1988 in memory of William P. "Chip" Harris.

TILLAMOOK: Anna Seaholm, senior in agricultural business management, Agricultural Cooperative Council of Oregon Scholarship Award.

TUALATIN: Mary Sampson, junior in agricultural business management, Agricultural Cooperative Council of Oregon Scholarship, given in honor of Paul Carpenter, who served as secretary of the council.

CALIFORNIA

HEALDSBURG: Ashley Marshall, senior in agricultural business management, Oregon Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers Award. The award is made to further the recognition of rural appraising.

WASHINGTON

FERNDALE: Ashley Wilson, junior in agricultural business management, E.L. Potter Scholarship, which was established in honor of Dr. D.D. Hill, retired chief of OSU farm crops and in memory of Professor E.L. Potter, former chief of OSU agricultural economics.
