CORVALLIS, Ore. – The fifth annual Roots Rock and Reggae Festival at Oregon State University will be held Saturday, June 2, in the Memorial Union Quad on the OSU campus.

This music event, which is sponsored by the Memorial Union Program Council, will feature the groups Lifesavas, The Village Green and Easy Star All-Stars.

The festival starts at 5 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

The Lifesavas was labeled by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the “top 10 artists to watch in 2007.” Portland natives and socially conscious rappers, Lifesavas has performed at the festival once before.

The Village Green is an independent rock duo based out of Portland. Their current album is “Feeling the Fall.”

Easy Star All-Stars, a group of reggae artists, specialize in covering popular albums in a reggae and dub style, and have released two cover albums to date. The most recent album, “Radiodread,” is a song-by-song cover of “OK Computer” by Radiohead.

The festival will follow the annual Battle of the Bands competition, which will be held on Friday, June 1.
