CORVALLIS, Ore. – Elise McClure, vice president of Tax and Customs for Starbucks Coffee Co., is this year’s speaker for the McHenry Lecture Series. She will give a speech titled “Starbucks: A Unique Experience” on Friday, Oct. 26, beginning at noon in Bexell Hall, Room 415, on the Oregon State University campus.

McClure is a graduate of OSU with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She also attended Willamette University’s College of Law, where she earned a degree in 1984.

She will be talking about the values of the Starbucks company and share her experience of working at a company that grew explosively in a short amount of time.

As Starbucks vice president, McClure leads the department responsible for minimizing Starbucks overall federal, state and local tax and customs exposure. She oversees tax planning for acquisitions, international operations and new business activities, as well as tax compliance for federal, customs, state, sales and property tax and the acquisition of retail store permits and licenses.

Elise joined Starbucks in 1992 as manager of her division and was promoted to director before assuming her current position in 1998. Prior to joining Starbucks, she was employed by Coopers & Lybrand, LLP, as a tax manager in their Seattle and New York offices.

The lecture is free and open to the public. Seating is limited.
