CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State University’s College of Business is inviting local businesses and the public to find out how the college can serve the business community’s needs with an open house on Wednesday, Jan. 16, from noon to 2 p.m.

The open house will celebrate the college’s 100-year anniversary by showcasing the many programs and tools that are available to business owners.

It is free and will be held at Bexell Hall on the OSU campus. A free shuttle will pick up visitors from 11:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. The stops include the corner of S.W. 1st and Tyler, on S.W. 2nd between Monroe and Madison, at a parking lot at S.W. 2nd and S.W. Western and at Bexell Hall on the OSU campus.

As a professional school, the OSU College of Business provides a strong undergraduate business curriculum complemented with hands-on experiential learning through outreach programs. The college also partners with numerous businesses to create internship opportunities for students.

Additional outreach programs at OSU’s College of Business that are available to businesses include:

Austin Family Business Program: As one of the first family business programs in the nation, the Austin Family Business Program provides education, outreach and research to support the survival and success of family-owned businesses. Workshops address family-specific issues such as succession planning, family business values, communication and conflict, life cycles, estate planning, governance, and philanthropy. Business-specific programs include strategic planning, financial issues, competitive analysis, marketing and branding, and personnel issues.

Austin Entrepreneurship Program: The largest residential entrepreneurship program in the country is helping to mold future leaders. The program focuses on three strategic areas: entrepreneurship and innovation, social entrepreneurship, and environmental stewardship.

Close to the Customer Project: Students and researchers help businesses make decisions by conducting applied market research. Using sophisticated data gathering and assessment techniques, the “C2C Project” creates insights and understanding of markets for its clients.

Business Solutions Group: BSG provides professional, custom product testing and software development solutions for its clients. More than 50 student interns each year, along with OSU faculty, leverage strategic industry relationships, a flexible and reliable infrastructure, solid security measures and competitive pricing. The program continually integrates new technologies while looking for opportunities with new business partners.
