CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Department of Design and Human Environment at Oregon State University is hosting a day-long student career fair that is open to the general public. The theme for the symposium is “Design Your World.”

The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, at the CH2M Hill Alumni Center, 725 SW 26th St., Corvallis.

Representatives from a number of companies and agencies will discuss trends in their fields particularly relating to types of professional positions. Companies and agencies represented include: Ankrom Moisan Associate Architects, Anthropologie, Columbia Sportswear, Jantzen Swimwear, Macy’s, Fred Meyer, Nike, Nordstrom, Pendleton Woolen Mills, Target, Robert Trotman Interiors and Wooster Design Inspirations.

The keynote speaker is C. Morton Bishop III, president of Pendleton Woolen Mills. His talk, “Pendleton: Weaving America’s Spirit Since 1909,” will begin at 9 a.m.

From 10:15 to 11:15 a.m., concurrent sessions will be held on these topics: “Inside the Apparel Manufacturer” and “Talk with Housing and Design Pros: Portfolios and Interview Techniques.”

Sessions from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., include: “The World of Housing and Design Certifications: How to Become More Qualified” and “Inside the Retailer.”

Recent graduates from the design and housing program will discuss their experiences from 2 to 3 p.m.
