CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Bill Perry of Canby, Ore., is the new president of the Oregon State University Alumni Association Board of Directors.

The association maintains alumni relations for the university, providing a wide variety of services to OSU and its more than 150,000 alumni.

Perry earned a bachelor's degree from the OSU College of Liberal Arts in 1989. He is director of government relations for the Oregon Restaurant Association. He graduated from The Dalles High School.

The alumni association's volunteer board of directors oversees an organization that hosts many events on and off campus; raises money for scholarships; publishes the Oregon Stater magazine; manages the www.osualum.com site; operates the CH2M HILL Alumni Center as a conference and events facility; provides career services to alumni, and conducts myriad other activities in support of OSU and its graduates and friends.

"The more I am involved with Oregon State, the more I realize the positive impact it has on all our lives," Perry said. "I have long been an advocate that a strong higher education system is a vital part of a strong business community. Connections to Oregon State continue to be an asset to me in both my personal life and my professional career."

As board president, he will work closely with OSUAA Executive Director Jeff Todd.

"Bill Perry will be an extremely committed chief volunteer and provide strong leadership for the association that represents Oregon State University alumni worldwide," Todd said. "His connections throughout Oregon and his positive standing among his fellow alumni will benefit the university and the association enormously during the next 12 months. I know all of us on the staff and board look forward to serving under his leadership."
