CORVALLIS, Ore. – Six high school students from across the state have been awarded 4-H state and county fair scholarships through the 4-H Youth Development Program run by Oregon State University Extension Service.

4-H members who have been active in the fair at the county and/or state level received scholarships to help fund their higher education. Applicants are evaluated on their volunteer leadership at fair, participation in fair 4-H project exhibits, a personal essay and academic achievement. This year 40 4-H members competed for the scholarships.

Receiving State Parks and Fair Scholarships of $1,000 were Megan Collins of Monroe and Emilie Boatner of Keizer. Cody Leigh Walker of Beaverton received the $500 scholarship.

The Oregon Fairs Foundation 4-H Scholarships of $1,000 were awarded to Traci Sirotiak of Newberg and Shelbie Carmony of Boring.

David Baglien of Corvallis received the $1,000 Petralli Family State Fair 4-H Scholarship.
