CORVALLIS, Ore. - A series of feature and documentary films related to food -- with a special focus on food, health and the sustainability of food systems -- will be screened at Oregon State University Nov. 23 through June 3 to benefit the OSU Emergency Food Pantry.

All films are free (except the Dec. 12 screening of "Ingredients") and open to the public, with donations accepted. Suggested donations include nonperishable food items, personal hygiene items and money.

The OSU Food Group, in partnership with Ten Rivers Food Web, operates the OSU Emergency Food Pantry. The pantry is open to the public, but because of its campus location, targets an under-represented group in the emergency food system: low-income university students. The pantry offers dry, fresh, refrigerated, frozen and boxed/canned items. Rather than simply giving out boxes, the OSU Emergency Food Pantry allows clients to select their own food.

The Food Film Series 2009/10 is sponsored by the OSU Food Group, Horning Endowment in the Humanities, Corvallis Environmental Center, and Ten Rivers Food Web. "Ingredients" is additionally co-sponsored by Slow Food Corvallis and That's My Farmer.

All films screen at 7 p.m., except "Ingredients," which shows at 2 p.m.
