CORVALLIS, Ore. - John Becker-Blease, assistant professor of finance at Oregon State University, will be the featured speaker during a free, one-hour Web conference on integrating sustainability into the MBA finance curriculum. Hosted by the Aspen Institute, the Web conference will be held 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29 (or noon Eastern time) and is open to the public.

The title of the conference is "Sustainability and Stakeholders in the Finance Discipline." Dr. Elizabeth Keating, CPA, will moderate the program.

"There is a growing awareness among business professionals and academics of the importance of sustainable business practices for both a healthy planet and a healthy economy," said Becker-Blease. "These are guiding principles for both OSU and the College of Business. In this web conference, I will discuss how to integrate the important discussion of sustainability into the broader finance curriculum."

Becker-Blease joined the OSU College of Business in the summer of 2009. He has worked closely with the Aspen Institute on redesigning the business school curriculum to include a strong element of sustainability and corporate social responsibility. His research interests include examining the drivers of corporate innovation, the value associated with increases in visibility, and gender equality in business.
