CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State University veterinary students are seeking donations of food, toys, blankets and leashes - or cash gifts to purchase those items - for needy pets in the community.

All of the donations will be passed on to local animal shelters, or to needy families in the community with pets, by members of the OSU Shelter Medicine Club.

"Just as there are families in our community who may need help with food, so too is there a need to make sure that our animal friends are well-cared for," said Kate Hooper, co-president of the Shelter Medicine Club.

Hooper says the club is seeking unopened pet food cans or bags, and new or "gently used" toys, blankets and leashes - or cash. Donations will be accepted through June in the lobby of Magruder Hall, located on 30th Street just west of Reser Stadium.

The OSU Shelter Medicine Club is one of several student organizations within the College of Veterinary Medicine that provides community service.
