CORVALLIS, Ore. - A rare opportunity to receiving training on a professional preparation program called SharePoint will be offered by Oregon State University's College of Business on Friday, June 18.

Combining lecture, demonstration and hands-on experience, each participant will gain proficiency using SharePoint for collaboration. This five-hour course will also provide an explanation of the IT requirements for deploying SharePoint in an organization and preview new features coming in the next release of SharePoint. The training will start at 10 a.m. Bexell Hall Room 324, 2251 S.W. Campus Way, Corvallis.

Seating is limited to only 24 participants who will receive instruction from Michael Curry, a faculty member and Microsoft "certified professional." Early registration is $189, and $225 afterwards, which includes use of the computer lab, access to a SharePoint site, and all training material. Registration information can be found at the class web page located at http://classes.bus.oregonstate.edu/spcrash/.

"SharePoint is rapidly becoming the business collaboration tool of choice," said Curry. "Because it allows businesses to rapidly share information such as documents, presentations and coordinate work across time and distance we have been using SharePoint in the classrooms since last year. However, there are very few local resources for hands on training of SharePoint, and this class is in response to the inquiries we have received from the professional community for non-credit professional training on SharePoint."

The class is being offered at a significant discount to similar trainings in Portland.

Offering short, non-credit professional training on SharePoint to the public for a fee is a service consistent with the College of Business' strategic initiative to provide knowledge and expertise that promote the development of sustainable business practices, new products, processes, and organizational forms. More class dates will be added in the near future based on demand and availability of resources.
