CORVALLIS, Ore. - Auditions for Oregon State University's fall production of "The Coming of Rain" will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, and Thursday, Sept. 30, on the main stage of Withycombe Hall on the OSU campus.

"The Coming of Rain" is by Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright Richard Marius. This production will be the West Coast premiere of the play.

Auditions are open to all and academic credit is available for participating. Twenty actors are needed for the production.

Adapted from his award-winning novel of the same name, Marius's play is set during the reconstruction period in 1885 after the Civil War and centers on a group of Civil War veterans in Tennessee. At the heart of the play is a murder mystery coupled with a love story.

There are roles for students as well as experienced actors. Also needed are one or two singers to perform songs of the period. Scripts are available in the theater office in Withycombe Hall.
