CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State University has been named one of the best colleges in the West by the education services company, The Princeton Review. OSU is among 120 colleges recommended as "Best in the West" by the 2011 Best Colleges: Region By Region.

The ranking is based on institutional data collected directly from hundreds of schools, site visits, the opinions of Princeton Review staff, plus recommendations from college counselors and advisers.

The 120 colleges that The Princeton Review chose for its "Best in the West" list are located in 15 states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.  Only about 25 percent of the nation's 2,500 four-year colleges were selected as regional best choices.

As part of the project, The Princeton Review asks students attending the schools to rate their own schools on several issues - from the accessibility of their professors to quality of the campus food - and answer questions about themselves, their fellow students, and their campus life.
