CORVALLIS, Ore. - Auditions will be held on Jan. 18 and Jan. 22 for Tony Kushner's historical drama, "A Bright Room Called Day," to be presented as part of Oregon State University's Holocaust Memorial Week in April.

The play centers on a group of friends living in Berlin in 1932 who are confronted with the rise of Adolf Hitler and fascism.

Auditions will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 18 and from 6 to 10 p.m. Jan. 22 in Withycombe Hall's lab theater, 30th and Campus Way, Corvallis.

Auditions are open to all OSU students, faculty and staff, and to community members. Auditions will mainly consist of games and cold readings. Reading the script beforehand is strongly encouraged. Scripts are available for checkout from Angie Weeks in the Theatre Arts office in Withycombe Hall. Contact the director, Elizabeth Helman at [email protected] with any questions.

The play is April 14-18. Actors who want to be considered must be available for a cast meeting and reading on Jan. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Regular rehearsals begin Feb. 22.
