CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State University Theatre will present 13 student-directed one-act plays on campus in a series that starts June 2 and runs through June 6.

Ten student directors will direct 26 actors in the plays, which will be presented in two groups. Group A will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 2, and Friday, June 4, and at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 5.

Group B will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 3, and Saturday, June 5, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 6.

Performances will be on the main stage of Withycombe Hall. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, $5 for children and $4 for OSU students; they can be purchased at the box office in Withycombe Hall beginning Tuesday, June 1, at noon. The box office is open noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday.

Julie Hanano is the student costume designer for all 13 plays under the guidance of Barbara Mason. Scenery is supervised by George Caldwell and Jordan Brinck. Charlotte Headrick is the supervisor for the student directors.

Group A consists of the following plays:

• "Variations on the Death of Trotsky," directed by Alex Johnston. The director calls it a "comedic glimpse into the many (imagined) deaths of a revolutionary."
• "Stars by Romulus Linney," directed by Feygon Nickerson. A drama about love and infidelity.
• "The Right to Remain," directed by Kenny Arellano. A drama about family secrets.
• "Holographic Tiger Eats Man Trespassing in Trailer Park," directed by Feygon Nickerson. It is described as a "comic brawl about class and gender prejudice."
• "The Maker of Dreams," directed by Tom Sabatino. A classic involving a couple who discover how much they love each other.
• "The Loveliest Afternoon of the Year," directed by Andrew Atkinson. An absurdist comedy chronicling the relationship of two quirky lovers and a tree.

Group B includes the following plays:

• "Best Daddy," written by Shel Silverstein and directed by Heather Hewlett. This comic play questions when a joke is really a joke.
• "Take Time to Share: The Breast Cancer Awareness Project," written and directed by graduate student Taliesin Mihacsi. This educational piece is part of a larger graduate thesis project that explores the struggles, loss, and hope of those whose lives are transformed dealing with breast cancer.
• "Smoke Scenes," directed by Niqi Silbaugh. Two actors improvise 51 scenes about smoke. 
• "A Wedding Story," directed by Addie Underwood. It is a comedy of love gone wrong.
• "Fugue," directed by Chiaki Horan. A chilling examination of a serial killer and his victims.
• "No Skronking," directed by Heather Hewlett. Arnold, a customer, interrogates Bertha, the waitress, on the true meaning of "skronking."
• "The Red Coat," directed by Chiaki Horan. A charming comedy about discovering young love.

Some plays contain language and situations which some people may find objectionable.
