CORVALLIS, Ore. - A screening of "The Return of Navajo Boy" will be held on Monday, Nov. 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Oregon State University.

The free public event will be held in the Asian/Pacific-American Room (room 206) of the Memorial Union.

This award-winning documentary was an official selection of the Sundance Film Festival. The film resulted in reuniting a family, compensation for a former uranium miner, and an investigation of contamination in homes built with radioactive debris from uranium mines. The film portrays how the Navajo (Diné, "the People") have been disproportionately exposed to pollution from resource extraction.

A discussion will be held after the 75-minute documentary.

Donations will be accepted after the film towards travel for the director/producer of the film, Jeff Spitz, and Navajo Nation elders Elsie Mae Begay and Perry Charley (who are featured in the film) to talk with the members of the American Society for Environmental History in Arizona.
