CANBY, Ore. - Sheep farmers are invited to register for a free workshop on raising sheep on Nov. 30 in Canby.

The seminar, which will run from 7-9:40 p.m., is sponsored by the Oregon State University Extension Service, the Oregon Sheep Growers Association and the Clackamas County Stockman's Association. Topics will include the health and nutrition of pregnant ewes, hay evaluation, scrapie eradication and preparation for lambing season.

Speakers will include Charles Estill, an animal scientist from OSU's College of Veterinary Medicine; Robert Dyk of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service; Gary Fredricks, field faculty with the OSU Extension Service in Cowlitz County; and James Thompson, a sheep specialist with the OSU Extension Service.

The deadline for registering is Nov. 29. To register, call the OSU Extension office in Polk County at 503-623-8395 or e-mail Gene Pirelli at [email protected]. The workshop will take place at the Clackamas County Events Center at 694 N.E. Fourth Ave. in Canby.
