CORVALLIS, Ore. - The latest developments in Oregon State University's wave energy research program will be featured in a new environmental science TV series this weekend, Green Science Oregon.

The show, which recently launched on affiliate and independent stations serving most of the state's population, draws from some of the most interesting and innovative research being conducted at Oregon universities and in private industry. The show mostly focuses on matters concerning sustainability, alternative energy and green practices.

This weekend's episode will take viewers to OSU's Wallace Energy Systems & Renewables Facility, where wave energy buoy prototypes are designed and tested, and to Oregon Ironworks, which is building buoys for ocean deployment. Producer Rick Coyle interviewed OSU wave energy pioneer Annette Von Jouanne and others for the program, which also focuses on Columbia Power Technology, an OSU spinoff company. CPT subjected its buoys to stress tests in the Hinsdale Wave Laboratory's "hurricane wavemaker" on the OSU Corvallis campus. 

Viewers will also see deployment of a test buoy off Newport and learn about Ocean Power Technologies' plans for a wave energy facility off Reedsport.

Portland on DTV Channel 8.2, Comcast 308 and Frontier 461 on Saturday and Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

Eugene and Corvallis via KSLR Fox 34 and KEVU 23 on Sundays at 5 p.m.

Salem on KWVT, DTV channel 17.1, Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m.

The Dalles via CGN7 at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., Wednesdays
