SALEM, Ore. - An exhibition of artwork by mid-Willamette Valley artists will be on display at the Willamette Heritage Center Mission Mill Museum Sept. 24 through Dec. 24.

Art for "Cultivating Creativity" is from the Art about Agriculture permanent collection of the Oregon State University College of Agricultural Sciences. Ginny Adelsheim, Dale Bunse and Jodie Garrison were invited to participate in the show. They and the 27 artists selected from those represented in the permanent collection live or have lived in the three counties served by the Heritage Center: Marion, Polk and Yamhill.

"The Art About Agriculture program encourages artists to investigate the visual resources of agricultural practices and significance of natural resources that sustain human life," said Shelley Curtis, curator.

The Dye House at the Mission Mill Museum houses the exhibition, which features drawings, paintings, photographs, prints and sculptures of familiar scenes in the Willamette Valley. "Artist portrayals of barnyards, farms, gardens, orchards and vineyards illuminate enterprises throughout the seasons in this area of Oregon," Curtis said.

"Many invoke the heart of this region's abundant natural resources: sloping Palouse hills, stands of pine and water pooled in saturated fields."

The OSU College of Agricultural Sciences co-sponsors the exhibition with the Willamette Heritage Center Mission Mill Museum. The museum is at 1313 Mill Street, S.E. in Salem. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The museum is closed Sundays.
