CORVALLIS, Ore. - Four editors from prominent literary magazines and book publishers from across the country will meet at Oregon State University on Thursday, May 5, as part of the inaugural Editorial Festival.

The editors will hold two panels, "Getting into Print: A Discussion and Q and A with Notable Editors" at 4 p.m. in Memorial Union Room 213, and "The New Landscape of Literary Publishing" at the Corvallis Public Library at 7 p.m.

The guest editors will discuss their visions for the changing shape of writing, publishing, and reading in the new age of digital media and the hybridization of literary forms. They will also take questions from the public in order to facilitate a broader discussion about contemporary literature, publishing, and the future of the book.

In the afternoon session at the Memorial Union, tips will be offered to new authors seeking advice for publishing creative work.

The panels have four participating editors: Jon Tribble, managing editor of Crab Orchard Review and the series editor of the Crab Orchard Series in Poetry published by Southern Illinois University Press; Kathryn Lang, senior editor for the Southern Methodist University Press from 1991-2010; Tonaya Thompson, senior editor at Portland's Tin House magazine; and OSU Press author Brian Doyle, editor of Portland Magazine.

The afternoon panel will be moderated by CALYX Press Rebecca Olson, an OSU master of fine arts student, and the evening panel will be moderated by Mary Braun, acquisitions editor for OSU Press.

The discussion and panels are sponsored by OSU's MFA in Creative Writing program and the Department of English. The events are free and open to the public.
