CORVALLIS, Ore. - Sheila Watt-Cloutier, a nominee for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize and a Canadian leader on environmental and climate issues, will speak on Wednesday, March 2, as part of the Ideas Matter lecture series at Oregon State University.

Watt-Cloutier, an Officer of the Order of Canada, is the recipient of many awards and honors for her environmental work and is one of the leading speakers in this series. She will present "Everything is Connected: Environment, Human Rights and Climate Change in the 21st Century."

The lecture will be in the LaSells Stewart Center on the OSU campus from 7-9 p.m., and is free and open to the public.

In the talk, Watt-Cloutier will examine the interconnections between the environment, economy, foreign policy, health and human rights. The presentation will focus on the Arctic and her own Inuit culture, which she helped lead in one of the world's first international legal actions on climate change, a petition to the inter-American Commission on Human Rights.
