CORVALLIS, Ore. - Five high school students from across the state have been awarded 4-H state and county fair scholarships through the 4-H Youth Development Program run by the Oregon State University Extension Service.

4-H members who have been active in county and state fairs received the scholarships to help fund their higher education. Applicants are evaluated on their volunteer leadership at the fairs, participation in fair 4-H project exhibits and a personal essay.

State Parks and Recreation Scholarships of $1,000 each were awarded to Angela McGovern of Keizer and Kiah Gourley of Philomath. Megan Biggi of Sherwood received a $500 State Parks scholarship.

Elizabeth Vanderzanden of Corvallis and Rebekah Polacek of Salem each won the Oregon Fairs Foundation Scholarship of $1,000.
