PORTLAND, Ore. - Business and engineering students from Oregon State University will show and discuss some of their innovative technologies and humanitarian activities in an event on Tuesday, May 24, in Portland.

This "Business and Engineering Student Showcase" will be in the Union Bank building lobby from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., at 407 S.W. Broadway. It is free, and designed to offer alumni, business and industry representatives, prospective students and the public a chance to learn more about these student activities and accomplishments.

Among the participants will be:

  • The OSU Robotics Club will demonstrate its entry in the 2011 University Rover Challenge.
  • "Students in Free Enterprise" will discuss how they are fighting hunger across the nation.
  • Students in "Engineers Without Borders" will speak on their projects to provide clean water to remote communities in El Salvador and Kenya.
  • The OSU Society of Automotive Engineers will unveil the 2011 Baja and Formula racing cars.

The event is co-sponsored by Union Bank and Oregon State University.
