CORVALLIS, Ore. - Perspectives on how growing, cooking and sharing food has changed over time will be shared in lectures to be held Nov. 8, 10 and 11 on the Oregon State University campus.

Historian Ken Albala will give a series of three lectures on "Perspectives on Eating from the Past" starting on Tuesday, Nov. 8 - all in Memorial Union Room 109. The free, public lectures begin at 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday and at noon on Friday.

Albala will discuss how the food production system, methods of food preparation, and modes of consumption have changed over time. On Tuesday, Nov. 8, he will discuss historical methods of growing food. On Thursday, Nov. 10, Albala will share the ways cooking methods have evolved. And then on Friday, Nov. 11, he will speak on the ways communities have shared food historically.

Albala is professor of history at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. He is the author of many books on food, including "Eating Right in the Renaissance," "Beans: A History," and co-authored the cookbook, "The Lost Art of Real Cooking."
