CORVALLIS, Ore. - Bruce Gagnon, coordinator of the Global Network Against Weapons & Nuclear Power in Space, will give a talk on expanding militarism and the impact on the ecosystem next Wednesday, April 18, at Oregon State University.
The free public lecture, "The Deadly Connection - Endless War and the Ecological, Economic Crisis," will be held in Room 125 of the Linus Pauling Science Center from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Gagnon's talk will explore expanding U.S. militarism in the Asia-Pacific region; the country's space technology strategy; the conversion of the military industrial complex to sustainable production as a way to mitigate climate change; the 2012 elections, and what Americans can do about what he calls the "corporate domination of Congress."
Gagnon's appearance at OSU is part of a 30-day West Coast speaking tour.
The event is sponsored by the Oregon State Space Society, Peace Studies, the Masters in Public Policy Program, and the Linus Pauling Chapter of Veterans for Peace.
