CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State University forensics team closed out its 119^th season recently at the Pi Kappa Delta National Comprehensive Tournament at Metropolitan Community College in Longview, Kan.

The tournament featured 70 schools from across the nation. There were more than 1,000 individual entries and more than 200 team entries.

"This is the chance to end our season competing against the best of the best," said Mark Porrovecchio, director of the team. "It was nice to have a graduating senior, a dedicated sophomore, and promising first-year student representing the team."

Kelsey Irish of Williams, Ore. was an "octofinalist" in open international public debate and also competed in open impromptu and open extemporaneous speaking. Cody Connolly of Salem was a semifinalist in novice international public debate and also competed in open impromptu speaking.

Joining them at the tournament was Michael Walters of Gresham, competing in open international public debate and open impromptu speaking. The team was coached by graduate assistants Kori Thornburg of Kennewick, Wash., and Forest Ledbetter of Sheridan, Ore.
