CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State University is hosting a week of events honoring veterans and their loved ones beginning Nov. 9.

The focus is on honor, education and collaboration.  Events include ROTC ceremonies, a women's vet panel, a documentary, Veterans Administration benefits education and a football game dedicated to veterans.

The events will begin with an ROTC joint Air Force and Navy activity featuring Lt. Col Andrew Poorman as the keynote speaker on Friday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. in the Memorial Union Quad. This will also include a reading of the names of Oregon's POW/MIAs, a 21-gun salute and a military flyover (weather permitting). A reception will follow inside the Memorial Union, Room 109.

On Monday, Nov. 12, a forum on "Women at War:  Fighting for Country and Recognition" will take place from 3-5 p.m. in the MU Lounge; and on Nov. 15, a screening of the film "The Invisible War," about the endemic of rape in the military, will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the MU East International Forum.

During the Saturday, Nov. 17 football game, selected veterans will be honored during halftime and presented with special OSU "challenge coins" which highlight the relationship between OSU and the veteran community.
