CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon Hatchery Research Center, located on Fall Creek in the Alsea River basin, will hold its annual "Fall Creek Festival" on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is free and open to the public, though advanced registration is necessary.

The center is a joint venture between Oregon State University and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. Located some 13 miles west of the town of Alsea on Hwy. 34, the facility does cutting-edge research on the differences between hatchery fish and wild fish, focusing primarily on salmon and steelhead.

The festival coincides with the annual fall salmon run. Among the workshops are sessions on water color painting, stamping, fish printing, wildlife photography and scratch board art.
