CORVALLIS, Ore. - Christi Kasten has been named interim executive director of the Oregon State University Alumni Association and associate vice president, alumni relations. The appointment was made by Oregon State President Edward J. Ray.

She succeeds Scott Greenwood, who announced his resignation earlier this month to accept a position as chief operating officer of the alumni association at Duke University in North Carolina.

Kasten has been senior associate executive director of the OSU Alumni Association since September 2009 and has been with the alumni organization since 2005.  She served as interim executive director once before, from September 2010 through July 2011.

During her tenure at OSU, Kasten has helped lead efforts to implement the association's strategic plan and keep OSU's more than 160,000 alumni connected to the university and to one another. Ray said Kasten's experience in operations management and board relations has helped keep both the Alumni Association and the Alumni Relations office running smoothly.

Kasten earned a bachelor's degree in political science from OSU in 1986 and a master's degree in public administration from Portland State University in 1993. She lives in Corvallis with her husband, Jim Kasten.

"I am very excited about continuing to advance our effort to reach our alumni wherever they live and work," Kasten said. "I am certain that our staff and volunteers will make sure we don't lose any of the momentum we have built up over the past few years."

The OSU Alumni Association is a member-based, nonprofit organization that promotes OSU and engages alumni. Its programs include a web site for alumni, the Oregon Stater magazine, an e-mail newsletter, regional activities, faculty lecture series, travel opportunities and other events. It is located in the CH2M-Hill Alumni Center, which also serves as a conference center.
