CORVALLIS, Ore. - Acclaimed chef and Food Network television personality Jet Tila will visit Oregon State University on Feb. 7, where he will meet the campus community and public and prepare a feast as part of OSU's Lunar New Year celebration.

Tila competed on "Iron Chef America" and is a judge on the popular show, "Chopped."  He is a nationally celebrated chef and consultant, as well as a passionate teacher and student in the art of food.

The University Housing & Dining Services department will host "Lunar New Year: A Journey through Culture and Cuisine" in celebration of the first day of the lunar calendar on Thursday, Feb.7, at Marketplace West's Ring of Fire restaurant on campus.  Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m.

Tila will be demonstrate his cooking technique and share some of his recipes from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:15 p.m., when he will meet with OSU students, staff and faculty, as well as the general public.  This portion of the event is free.

The menu will feature Jet's Asian broccoli salad with crispy noodles and spicy basil pork.  Also on the menu are roasted duck leg in Mandarin orange sauce, braised beef short ribs in plum sauce, Buddha's feast with tofu (vegetarian), crispy spring rolls, sweet sticky sesame rice cakes and other culinary favorites.  The meal will cost $9.
