CORVALLIS, Ore. - Concussions and head injuries have become common topics of conversation in televised sporting events and online chatrooms. On Monday, Jan. 30, the Corvallis Science Pub will host Dr. Douglas Aukerman to discuss what physicians now know about how the brain responds to concussions and other forms of traumatic brain injury.

Aukerman's presentation had been slated for Jan. 9 and was rescheduled because of a winter storm.

The Science Pub is free and open to the public. It begins at 6 p.m. at the Old World Deli, 341 S.W. Second St. in Corvallis.

Aukerman is a sports medicine physician with Samaritan Health Systems in Corvallis and a senior associate athletic director for sports medicine at OSU. On a day-to-day basis, he manages the sports medicine program for all of OSU's intercollegiate athletics sports teams. He works to ensure that student-athletes receive the best care possible in all aspects of their athletic training, including injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.

Sponsors of Science Pub include Terra magazine at OSU, the Downtown Corvallis Association and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.
